On the Music Convo Podcast show which airs on youtube, Nana Yaw Wiredu who doubles as the host of the show asserted that he is yet to see an initiative or festival which tells the story of the high life genre.
“What’s the history of highlife? Do we have a history for Highlife? Do we have an authentic highlife history that can inform the next ten generations to come?” he asked.
He also gave a very brilliant submission during the show about how the history of soul music was depicted on the Summer of Soul documentary which celebrates black history, culture, music, and fashion. He, therefore, urged stakeholders to come out with initiatives that will “cement” Ghana as the originator of the highlife genre so that highlife musicians can get the recognition that they deserve.
