Camidoh drops new infectious single “KABA” | LISTEN HERE

After weeks of announcing a forthcoming single, Camidoh has finally shared an infectious new single dubbed “Kaba”—a song which is anticipated to be on his forthcoming EP “Sugarcane”. Stream or download “Kaba” across all major digital platforms here

https://crux-global.lnk.to/Camidoh_Kaba

The afrobeat highlife-leaning single is the sensational vocalist’s latest musical offering, following the remix of his crossover commercial success “Sugarcane” released in April. The remix of the song featuring Mayorkun, Darkoo, and King Promise gave him further reach across Africa and beyond after gaining mainstream recognition with its original.

The new material “Kaba” follows Camidoh’s busy year thus far. He has recently been embarking on a European tour, engaging in media interviews and playing at notable festivals. He was seen performing at this year’s edition of Afronation Portugal and Ghana Party In The Park—where the new song initially made its debut. The song references a man who vows to give his love interest to the “world” to make her happy.

Camidoh, who takes inspiration from Akon and Sarkodie, has been making music since he was in high school and gained initial attention in Ghana’s music scene when he released his single ‘For My Lover.’ Since then, his fan base has grown rapidly and steadily.

AFRO NATION RETURNS HOME TO GHANA, 29TH & 30TH DECEMBER 2022

Following the huge success of Afro Nation Portugalthis July, the world’s biggest Afrobeats festival announces the follow up to 2019’s African debut event in Ghana.

Founded to unite the diaspora in a celebration of Blackjoy, Afro Nation Ghana comes home to a site of cultural significance. Taking place at Marine Drive, Black Star Square, the west African capital will host the biggest names and future stars whilst thousands rediscover their historic connection with Accra and the African continent as a whole.

Expanding massively since the Portugal debut in 2019, the festival’s giant new mainstage will now be transported to Ghana. A stage of this quality doesn’t exist anywhere else in West Africa, and serves as a vital building block for the live industry on the continent. Afro Nation’s aim has always been to elevate the scene and artists from or inspired by the modern sounds of Africa, and by establishing this stage in Ghana and bringing the exact same high production value from Portugal to West Africa, is just one step towards a bright new future of live events in the region.

As with Afro Nation Portugal and Afro Nation Puerto Rico, Afro Nation Ghana will work alongside and train local teams to produce the show, and bring business to as many local vendors as possible, bringing a positive impact to Ghana’s cultural and tourism economy.

Afro Nation made a sensational return to the Algarve coast in Europe at the start of July, a moment that had been a long time in the making and saw the biggest global breakout superstars like Wizkid perform – who declared his love onstage for fellow 2022 headliners Burna Boy and Davido. Drawing crowds of over 35,000 fans from 134 different countries on the beach over three days of dancing in the sun and celebrating the unifying power of Afrobeats, the festival now looks to bring this movement home to Ghana.

The festival site is located next to the spot where Ghana’s Independence was declared by the First President and BBC Africa’s Man of the Century Kwame Nkrumah, next to the Famous Osu Castle. Accra has blossomed as a cultural and musical hub and during the turn of the new year welcomes thousands from the global diaspora who travel home to party and be together with friends and family. Afro Nation Ghanalooks to foster even stronger ties with the continent around the world, re-connecting, educating, and creating, whilst putting on a festival never seen before on this scale.

Speaking about the landmark event this year and the Afro Nation stage, the festival organisers said…

“We started Afro Nation to give a global platform to the artists that we love. After just 4 shows we have seen over 150 live performances in front of over 100,000 people across 3 different continents, Africa, Europe and America.

Afrobeats is a special genre, not only does it unite the diaspora but it connects nations in a truly unique way. Our commitment to Afrobeats exists beyond Afro Nation festival, in 2020 we launched the world’s first official Afrobeats Chart with the Official Charts Company in the United Kingdom, followed by the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart earlier this year in the United States.

To round off what has been an incredible year, in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government and our festival partners in Ghana, Benjamin Ntim & Kojo Annan of Event Blackstar Limited, we have purchased the main stage used at Afro Nation Portugal 2022 and it is currently being shipped to Accra for Afro Nation Ghana 2022. We have initiated a training programme, where a full stage crew will travel from Europe to Ghana with us and train a local crew on how to build and run the stage. By 2025, this world class festival stage will be fully operated by the West African team, without any assistance from the UK.

We will continue to support our culture and look forward to seeing many global artists perform on this stage in the near future across the continent. Thank you for your support”

By the culture, for the culture, Afro Nation and Afrobeats is always on the rise. Afro Nation Ghana takes place 29th & 30th December 2022 at Marine Drive, Black Star Square, Accra. Line up announcement coming soon!

Tearfully Overwhelmed on Stage; Adina Thembi’s brand is beautifully Amplified

An invite to a Lynx entertainment event is an all pass to the plethora of stars under the star-making agency. The night at Movenpick hotel was nothing short of room of stars with Adina Thembi shining the brightest.

Before delving into the intricacies of the show, let me just say the details and respect for time at this concert left most patrons in awe! 10:30pm and it was a wrap! The one woman show begun at about 9 pm with no opening act, but the Superstar owning the stage with back to back hit performance and guest stars for an hour and thirty.

First of, Adina’s intentional inculcation of fashion in her brand is one that was also amplified on the night with her beautiful kente one piece mini dress with colors that agreed with the flawless skin tone of the artist.
Adina’s energy on stage from the beginning to the end was unwavering as though she’s been jogging and building her stamina months ahead of the show. The first 20 minutes of the show was about dancing, laying her danceable hits as we soaked it in.

The loyalty of the true Adina fans in the space was also tested when she time traveled with the audience from her earliest hit song like Let me go.

Also, through her performance of Daddy’s little girl, Adina tells a beautiful story about the missing space in her family photo which got her tearful on stage.

The peak of the excitement was when unexpected artists joined Adina on stage to enthrall the audience, beginning with the ladies’ man Kwabena Kwabena. His sudden appearance opened the flood gate to more surprises like Trigmatic, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, with the height of it all being Sarkodie and Stonebowy. About 30 minutes of pure goodness, never knew I loved surprises that much, call her Araba Santa!

The dancers, the band(patch bay) , lights, and the intermittent stage props ad aesthetic made Araba Amplified concert a night to remember!
A 10 by all standards! Congrats to Lynx and the team.

Is our movie industry in trouble? This might be a good sign though!

Akwaaba magic is dubbing South African series into twi like kumkum bhagya. Clearly, There is a huge market for it. How are our filmmakers using this to their advantage?

In my opinion, TV operators have seen the huge demand for the twi speaking shows. Ghanaian shows shot in English by our topnotch producers targeting the international market can also dub these classy movies into Twi for channels who show these Twi telenovela.

Also, Kumawood actors need support because clearly there is a seeming acceptance for the twi speaking shows and with good stories, cinematography, or pictures shot in twi, their shows can get acceptance by the locals in Ghana.

Finally, it’s clear that Ghanaians have grown past the “white person speaking Twi” illusion. These are blacks with their voice been dubbed. So if our filmmakers can do seize the moment.

Maybe instead of fighting it, we just need to embrace it and make the best out of it, who knows, it could overtake the telenovelas.

Is our movie industry in trouble? This might be a good sign though!

Lyrical Joe encourages “Self” priority in a new rap video — WATCH

Lyrical Joe, the prolific Ghanaian Rapper, has been on top of his game defending his turf with back-to-back releases. He drops “Self”, the latest cut to spark conversations with himself and his fanbase ahead of the 6th edition of his annual “August 5th” jam release.

“Self”, a new single in the form of a freestyle got released by him under 2MG Music Label on Friday, July 15th.

The song is a power-packed and unapologetically frank creative piece with well-laid bars by Lyrical Joe to highlight the need for (himself) and anyone to prioritize “Self”, especially in these times of trends and seemingly ‘fake’ lifestyles across social media and in real life.

In his own words, “this song is all about one’s self and throwing the spotlight on my life as an artist I realized it all comes down to myself — basically everything related to the craft. You can get all the push in the world but you can fail yourself by not utilizing it to full potential”.

“And on the other hand too, we seem to care and live for others so much that we don’t even realize when we are not taking care of ourselves. So this song is more like therapy to the SELF”, Lyrical Joe added.

Is Ghamro Ready For a Collaboration with SACEM to Advance Royalty Collection for our Ghanaian Musicians?

The conversation of music Royalty for most Ghanaian musicians and music stakeholders has become one that most Ghanaians have concluded as insurmountable. To most right owners, the lack of innovation and transparency by Ghamro has been a contributing factor to the plight of most Ghanaian artists.

However, there seems to be a light popping at the end of the tunnel, as the French Embassy led by HE Anne Sophie Ave, together with the VGMA has decided to introduce SACEM and GHAMRO to help find a permanent solution and the way forward.

Hosting Stakeholders at the Residence of France, Her Excellency made it clear that the meeting was not the trial of GHAMRO but a profitable collaboration. Inviting the International Director of SACEM, France, Caroline, Champarnaud, and the Vice President of Alter K, Simon Vuillard-Pernier as guest speakers to share their knowledge and realistic immediate steps to achieving this goal.

For most of the stakeholders invited to the event, it was a pleasure to see the intentional effort by the French Embassy and VGMA to fix one of the major issues that ail the Ghanaian Music industry, however with regards to the outcome of previous meetings, some reactions of the stakeholders of the event, the question is, will this be one of the many meetings to be held on royalty conversations or would Ghamro truly allow this collaboration to manifest beautiful fruits for the industry or it will be an exercise in futility?
