Not Ready To Work! Most Ghanaian Youth Contribute to the Unemployment Rate in Ghana
Most of the youth seem to blame everybody but themselves for the high unemployment rate in Ghana. While bad policies in Ghana is a major contributor to unemployment, the work place behavior of most Ghanaian youth is appalling and needs to be discussed by the youth!
The average Ghanaian youth only needs a job to keep them busy or somewhere they can escape their nagging families, but not to work! Let’s face it, most of us would complain vehemently, do all the can to secure a job and two weeks into the job, we get busy with everything but our KPI.
The average Ghanaian youth wants to be given the chance to be creative and innovative, but without a strict supervision or accountability most of us end up wasting company data and time on social media, Netflix, movie download, connecting with friends and our small small side gigs that we had while unemployed at home.
The youth seem to have an excuse for everything, and those in the service and the hospitality industry are mostly the worst of us all. They seem unbothered, unconcerned about how their actions and inactions affect the company. The lackadaisical behavior towards work by the youth of Ghana sends most of us home as fast as a fart gets out!
Our inability to ask for help or take correction or guidance also has us by the balls, and our pride and ego comes above everything else.
Honestly, if the youth of Ghana can have an introspection and look at their attitude during their service period, attachment or a moment when they were once employed, we would notice that most of us are at home because we are just Not Ready for Work!
