Michael Owusu Addo, popularly known in Ghana and across the globe as Sarkodie shared his views about the royalty system in Ghana on the Bold Convo Show.
During the interview, he said that the royalty system of this country takes a toll on him when he thinks about it. “Africa in general, I think we have been built to see things just one way. We tend to skip on great opportunities.
When we talk about entertainment, the government always sees it as the artists only need money. But I can’t blame them because that’s the presentation we reveal to them.
But I think what we forget is that the country is losing serious money, serious cash, more than even some of the things that they are exporting.
Sometimes the people that come into our business and understand certain languages that could be used to speak to these people aren’t there.
When you leave a typical creative person to go and speak to a business person, they speak based on their emotions. That perspective of I am suffering and all that.
Businessmen don’t think about that but think about the numbers. We aren’t there yet. But if you look at our business, you could see the valuable businesses when the pandemic hit.
If anybody had invested in Ghana to be able to handle and control the streaming system, you could imagine the money you will be making. I think it’s all about presentation and how we carry ourselves as an industry”.
