Afro-pop is a musical style that blends the traditional style of African culture with a touch of foreign influence to create a unique sound. One versatile act that is expanding the Afropop genre across the globe is Amaarae. Amaarae is a Ghanaian- American award-winning musician best known for speaking about gender and race in her music.Amaarae relocated to the USA at a very tender age and spent most of her life in Atlanta. She wrote, produced, and mixed her first mixtape during her days in high school.
Amaarae returned to Ghana to pursue her musical career full-time. She later dropped her first song, Fluid, and kept on releasing hits like Leave Me Alone. The warrior princess’s TheAngel You Don’t Know album and Passion Fruit Summers EP earned her praise and a feature from Apple Music.

Amaarae is determined to leave a legacy behind with her music. “There was this lady that was doing the wildest stuff in the middle of everyone else doing what everyone else is doing in music.” She narrates.
