Over the years, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has carved a niche for himself. The most decorated artist in Ghana was on the Bold Convo show to reveal some details about the publishing deal that he signed with Sony Music in the United Kingdom.
Sharing his opinion about the publishing deal, he said, “I always have to understand something even if it makes sense.
I am the type of person that always wants to question whatever that’s happening. When I started, the problem was that I wasn’t signed and was able to make it.
As soon as you taste that, it’s hard for you to sign. So now you go like, ‘Okay, what are you bringing on board, what’s going to change, are you coming to take over what I have built over the years and still talk to me like I don’t have the lyrics to have a conversation with you?’ That will be a problem.
When you are coming up, you need a platform. So at that point, if anybody had signed me, I would have done it. You are taking me somewhere, so it’s worth it.
But if I have built it to a certain point where you are coming to sit on what I have done, then I think we need to have a conversation that will benefit both of us.
Sarkodie also disclosed what will compel him to go on a musical break. He said, “ I will take a break when I am sonically not inspired.
That can happen. I have times where I have a block and can’t be creative. That can be a break. But if I am actually in the mood of recording, I will put it out”.
