I do Local Music, for global consumption – Gidochi

Gidochi, the perpetually creative Ghanaian artist in an interview has explained that the context of his music making is not limited to the borders of Ghana, but also aimed at finding global audience.  

On Wednesday 27th January 2021, Gidochi took to his social media pages to announce a 3-day media tour  in Kumasi (the capital city of Ashanti Region) as part of his plans to promote his debut EP ‘Mixed  Feelings’ and an attempt to also attract new fans/listeners in the city. 

In his first radio interview at Kumasi on Akoma Fm, the host of the Drive show ‘Tony Best’ asked why Gidochi’s music sounds very different and foreign despite the use of native language. 

In response to that, the X’tra X’tra Love ((XX L) singer explained that the local genre of music will always remain special because it resonates with the natives. 
However, he believes that irrespective of the genre, music add immense value to people’s lives, so there is the need for music to transcend across the globe. So even though he is locally based and does Afro-soul and other afro-related music, his choice of sound is for global consumption. 
This he believes will give the opportunity to people in other parts of the world to appreciate his unique type of Afro-music . 

Listeners who called into the show also praised Gidochi for his melodious  voice and urged him to keep up with his current sound and approach to music content.

Gidochi is expected to complete his Kumasi  media tour on Saturday January 30th, 2021.
