CULTURE: Meet The Ghanaian Rapper behind the American NFL Song of the Season – BlackWay

 Blackway, real name Yaw Sintim-Misa is the man behind the American NFL song of the season. The republic records signed rapper delivered a song called Heavy weight in less than 12 hours and it became the NFL song of the year. 

Born to Ghanaian comedian, broadcaster and actor Kwaku Sintim Misa popularly called KSM, BlackWay since has dropped several projects includingRadiant Child,Radiant Child ReloadedNew Yhana, and Good.Bad.Faded. His video for “Cake” with Bandhunta Izzy went viral on WorldStarHipHop. He rapped alongside Gucci Mane on “That Fast”. 

The Ghanaian rapper also has records with Busta Rhymes and once featured in rapper Manifest’s Beat 2 challenge where he was part of the top rappers to ‘kill’ the beat. 

According to the Ghanaian star based in USA, he had a call to create a song for the NFL and within twelve hours he returned the call with a track title Heavy Weight. 

In an Instagram  live with NFL star Melvin Ingram, Blackway disclosed how excited he was when he had the call that his song heavyweight was the official song of the season for the NFL.

“Heavyweight” debuted during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast featuring the Los Angeles Chargers at the New Orleans Saints, and was featured across pre-game and in-game broadcasts.

This is a big win for Ghana and Blackway who in 2018 collaborated with DJ duo Black Caviar on a track forThe Spider-Man™: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack called “What’s Up Danger. It’s been viewed over 19,000,000 times on YouTube alone.
